The scientific name of Swinhoe's Pheasant is Lophura Swinhoii. It is a bird endemic to Taiwan and was introduced to the Western world by the famous naturalist Robert Swinhoe in the 19th century. Because the whole body of the male bird is almost blue, the Chinese name is "藍腹鷴", which means Blue-bellied Pheasant. It generally lives in forests at low and medium altitudes in Taiwan. On April 8, I met them in the forest near Taipei, walking for food. At a very close distance, I was able to photograph brightly colored males and very noble looking females, and I was really happy!
