Northern Gannets are on the move, north to their breeding grounds in Canada. This individual was one of easily 100 following the ferry from Cape May, NJ to Lewes, DE.
Hearing their grunt-like calls as they perform arial acrobatics to avoid colliding as they dive, knife-like, into the the Delaware Bay was such a treat.
Soon they will gone from our waters, and breeding in the cliffs of Newfoundland and surrounding areas.
