I wanted to check out a Blue Heron rookery (a condominium of nests) at a marshland not far from me, to see if it was active. Even though photos are not great, and it was drab , still icy, and very quiet, I did get a nice surprise. Out of nowhere a Fisher walked by on the ice. They are known to be shy and elusive, with a solitary lifestyle, making it rare for people to see. So even though no herons, it was a fortunate sighting.
