Maunakea is a place of contrast, even more so during sunsets. Here, the many cinder cones just below the summit glow red in the fading light. To the right is the eastern flank of Maunaloa, the largest volcano in the world. It too, glows in bright vermillion. In the horizon, you can almost see the curvature of our Earth against the glow. This might make a perfect backdrop for a sci-fi flick.
