Image Details:

These are Anna's hummingbirds, the only hummingbird to stay at the Oregon coast all winter. The male with iridescent pink head and neck feathers is on the left, the female with green back feathers is on the right. The slightest movement of the male turns his head and neck feathers very bright pink. The female is larger and stockier than the male. The male used to stay and drink sugar water in our yard, then the female drove him away and claimed the feeder and both the myrtle and elderberry trees in our yard. When the male comes she quickly chases him away.
