The access road to the Mauna Kea observatories is finally cleared and open to public access. The last few days it was closed due to a powerful system known as Kona Low, bringing heavy rain, wind and blizzard to the summit area. It is not uncommon to have snow and ice atop these summits especially during the winter months. The weather finally calmed down and it turned out to be a beautiful day at the top of Mauna Kea.
