There’s a set of planets in the evening sky this month. They’ll hide behind the Sun in January, so see them while you can!

Get out there anytime after dark. Jupiter and Venus are easy to find, once you know what to look for; Saturn, in between them, is fainter and will need a darker sky.

Here’s a photo I took last night to provide a guide. They were up to the left of the glow of sunset. This was about 35 minutes after sunset. Venus, brightest, on the lower right, Jupiter to the upper left; and Saturn is much fainter, so I used a flag pole to point it out. (You may need to save the photo and enlarge it to see Saturn.)
