Photos taken from a distance, it is an exciting time of the year when the Northern Harrier hawk (considered threatened in NY), and the Short-eared owl (considered endangered in NY) start their winter migration from Canada. Both are among the "at-risk" species. The Washington County Grasslands (about an hours drive from home) is appealing to wintering raptors migrating from colder weather.
