11 inch Celestron RASA with One Shot Color Camera tracking on the comet.

Post-processing Details:

Three 240 second images, stacked and processed in Pixinsight 1.8.8 using mainly CometAlign, StarXterminator, MorphologicTransformation and usual brightening and sharpening tools.

Image Details:

This is Comet C/2021 A1 (Leonard), photographed just before dawn on November 23, 2021, using an 11 inch Celestron RASA reflector with one shot color camera, located in Mayhill, NM, and accessed remotely through iTelescope.net. Astronomer Greg Leonard discovered the comet in January of this year. The comet is now heading inward toward its perihelion, closest point to the sun, on January 3, 2022. C/2021 A1 is currently in the constellation of Canes Venatici, 119,925,327 km from Earth, and will make its closest approach to Earth on Monday, December 13, 2021 at a distance of 35,005,384 kilometers.
