As the sun was setting (low light) I spotted this doe in the woods. She seemed to pose for me. In upstate New York it is considered the rutting (breeding) season, which runs from October to January, with peak activity occurring in mid November. The gestation period lasts about 200 days, when the female usually gives birth to one or two fawns in late Spring.
