The sun setting provided a wealth of mirages last evening and today, 12 Nov. 2021. When I was looking at the screen as it was happening today, I saw ripples all around the edges, flowing to the left.
The sun's portrait is actually showing up on the Pacific Ocean's surface, a good 13 nautical miles from the coast. I've never taken video, but tomorrow might be the first time.
This link helped me understand what was going on--http://www.atoptics.co.uk/atoptics/mirtemp.htm, as did comments from Frank Widman here in Cambria.
