The waxing crescent moon about 5.6% illuminated appeared as soon as the setting of the sun in the west. Yet another conjunction event is expected tomorrow on 9 October when the moon will be closer to Venus than today where they are still far apart as seen in this photo. The pair was nevertheless exciting to be seen with the Crepuscular rays from the sun which had set about 20 mins ago when the picture was taken.
