It was a rainy night on Sharbot Lake - full cloud cover over a large region. We heard a loud firecracker-like pop and looked up in time to see this bright light appear and disappear after about 8-10 seconds. I had time to grab this shot of what we think might have been ball lightning! I almost had time to get a video but it shrank away, with a last blast of dazzle, as suddenly as it had appeared. The arc or trail of sizzle above the orb suggests ball lightning. Afterwards, 4 loons from far and near all started calling and kept calling for minutes. We have audio. It was all very dramatic! We asked around the next day but we seem to have been the only witnesses to this, along with the loons.
