Lake Shelbyville

Lake Shelbyville is a large reservoir located in Shelby County, Illinois and Moultrie County, Illinois. The surrounding area allows for camping, fishing and picnicking, and bordering the lake are two state parks, Wolf Creek State Park and Eagle Creek State Park, which include five federal campgrounds. The lake sits in one of the few remaining pockets of dark rural skies in Illinois. A stargazer told EarthSky that “areas around the lake often have minimal light pollution and very little tree cover. You remain close to amenities for your late-night stargazing.”
