Friends,

Months of intense physical and spiritual training were completed. It was time to embarked upon a dangerous photography mission into the desolate, uninhabited outback. Purpose was documentation of wildlife and night stars in a designated dark space wasteland of remote eastern Oregon.

Roads were terrible until there were no roads and it was all on foot across the quicksand alkaline salt marshes. My only companions were rattlesnakes and the ever present cloud of mosquitoes.

It was on the second day that I came upon a miraculous statement of human perseverance in this harsh desert wilderness. A veritable 21st century Stonehenge, surrounded by silent sagebrush guardians.

Out of nowhere it appeared upon the horizon, the monoliths of four green portable toilets. Why or how they got there defies any sense of reason.

In the beauty of it all, my hands were trembling with the camera lens. I wondered what out ancestors a million years from now would think making the same discovery.

Digging down under the radioactive rubble, the ancient monoliths are discovered. Their purpose unknown. Petrified fragments of primitive human DNA verified. Was this a sacrificial altar to ancient gods. Did it signify a planetary alignment heralding some pagan ritual, Each monolith contained a role of delicate paper, possibly a scroll upon which the rituals were written, but any ink had faded over the ages.

They may never resolve the mystery. The Truth that we know may be lost to the ravages of time.

Photograph submitted with the deepest sense of awe, wonder, humility.

May all exist in Peace,

John K
