Nikon P1000
crop, adjust contrast in Photoshop
A pair of mallards, the female stretching a little, shortly before going for a swim. The male is easily recognizable with his iridescent green head. In certain natural lighting his head turns iridescent cobalt blue or deep violet blue. After the breeding season, around June, the males develop a duller eclipse color.
