Image Details:

This double rainbow was seen late in the afternoon, under direct sunlight and light rain that occurred together. The image was taken while looking due east, 37 minutes before sunset when the sun was about 7 degrees above the western horizon. Only the primary rainbow was seen visually, but upon close inspection of the photo, parts of a faint secondary rainbow were spotted. Like all secondary rainbows, this one lies about 10 degrees outside of the primary, with the order of colors inverted. The panorama also displays a subtle golden hue below the primary rainbow that was caused by a concentration of rain in that area; this was plainly visible to the eye and quite attractive.
