Details of the Image: A 22 degree solar halo and solar corona captured from India's first dark sky reserve at Hanle. Ladakh.
Story: On our 3rd day at Hanle, while everybody was getting ready to visit the observatory, I was lying on the bed, trying to recover from a mild AMS. I heard somebody shouting about a circular rainbow and rushed outside. I Was greeted with an incredible display of 22 degree halo and corona. Me, who was trying to catch a breath, felt somewhat panicked about the condition of my health, completely forgot everything about it just by looking at the scene. I rushed to get my camera, took multiple images, helped the participants capture it with a few interesting compositions and went on explaining about the phenomena.
I kept running around for 30-40 minutes with no signs of illness at all. But I still decided to get some more rest and not to join others for the observatory visit. It was only 10 minutes after everybody left that I felt the sickness starting to creep in.
I've always considered nature as the biggest "healer" and there it was again, making me forget everything for those moments.
