Equipment Details:

Canon R full spectrum Sigma 150-600C@600mm 120sec f6.3 iso12800 49 shots + flats
Star adventurer 2i for tracking

Post-processing Details:

Affinity Photo 2 to stack and process, Starnet2 to separate stars
This took some more processing than usual as this is a fairly small and dim object compared to some of the easier DSOs. Orion that is very close is much brighter and larger.

Image Details:

The red in the left hand side is the NE corner of Barnard's loop. Of the two nebula, NGC2701 is on the left and M78, known as the Casper the Friendly Ghost Nebula, is on the right. I cannot say this is the best astrophoto I have posted and it might get people more interested in these objects. They are so close to many other more often photographed objects in Orion. This was my first pass at 600mm (the most focal length I have with standard photographic gear) for these objects. The thing I was most excited about was the dark parts of the pic. My understanding is this is dust with no star close enough by to light it up. Lately we have seen some incredible deep space objects with outstanding detail. I hope I can do better the next time I work on these objects. And, it sure is fun to find new things to photograph!!!
