On the occasion of Diwali, amidst the enchanting radiance and contrary to the cacophony, I had ventured alone to a relatively obscure place, Jhāndi. In the crags of the mountains, the rhythm of the drum and the melodious chorus of "Ei jhilimili jhilimili dheusi re..." echoed. One after another, groups arrived, dancing and singing, spreading joy from house to house. In today's world, such gatherings of people for festivities are rare. Here, there is no uproar of noise, and even when a dog is adorned with a floral garland, witnessing the celebration brings a sense of well-being. It seems as though they have effortlessly discarded the negatives, embracing the fundamental mantra of life, yet there is no hint of ostentation.
After a night spent in the relentless glow of an otherworldly light, when the eyes feel the residue of gunpowder upon awakening, the earth slowly stirs in the absence of sleep. However, a blink transforms the scene, leaving me uncertain whether to capture the moment in photographs. When I attempt to, it feels like the image slips away. Even the photo doesn't seem good enough. With the treasure trove of the boundless, it feels like I won't be able to grasp even a fraction of it. Understanding neither the melancholy nor the joy, this soft, beautiful light seems to have washed away all weariness in an instant.
Though I haven't seen Kerala, Kashmir, Ajanta-Ellora, or Arunachal, I know that this spot will rival any unseen corner of the world. I will enjoy the scenic beauty right here at Jhāndi. Again, I'll go to Jhāndi, where exactly? No, I won't document my travels. Nowadays, a quick search brings all the news to my fingertips. If news is, in fact, information, and if one cannot travel to that place in that time, then what will become of the wanderer? The method of recording the extreme joy or sorrow is still undiscovered. Therefore, my friends, I couldn't become a mechanic.
