Tonight's Super Blue Moon rising over the mountains behind our new home in Alpine, CA. It's the third of 4 Supermoons in a row, and the most "Super" of the 4, owing to it's being the closest and largest of the Supermoons. How close is it? The moon will be 222,043 miles away. Comparatively, the average distance between Earth and the moon is 240,000 miles. It's a Blue Moon because it is the second full moon within the same calendar month. The next Blue Moon will be in August, 2024, and the next Super Blue Moon won't be until 2037.
