Waxing gibbous Moon illuminated through smoky horizon, July 1.
July 1 is Canada Day, the national holiday. Confederation was July 1, 1867.
Canada is the world's second largest country in area (9,984,670 sq kilometers - 3,855,100 sq miles). Its largest province, Quebec (1,542,056 sq kilometers- 595,391 sq miles). Most of Canada and Quebec is covered by forest. An often stunning landscape.
This year is unfortunately perhaps the worst in recorded history for forest fires, the wind blowing the smog throughout North America. Thousands of citizens in northern Quebec have been evacuated as fires approach. Thee fires are expected to continue until November.
Please, don't "Blame Canada,"
