ZWO ASI533MC Pro with Optolong L-Pro filter, Celestron Omni XLT150 Newtonian telescope with 50mm guidescope/ASI290MM guide camera, SkyWatcher EQ6R Pro mount,
25 8-minute guided subs plus calibration frames were stacked with DeepSkyStacker. Post-processing with Siril, Photoshop and MS Photo.
Supernova 2023ixf in the Pinwheel Galaxy (Messier 101) was discovered on May 19 by amateur astronomer Koichi Itagaki. Last night I imaged the Pinwheel Galaxy and supernova 2023ixf. Although transparency was poor, the supernova is obvious when compared to an image of the Pinwheel Galaxy that I captured in March 2022.
