Hundreds of Common Murres are nesting on the rocks almost shoulder to shoulder. There are a few cormorants and seagulls among them, but the murres greatly outnumber them on this rock. The chorus of the murres' raspy twitters fill the air. Their upright stance makes them look like miniature penguins. The Common Murres are Oregon's most abundant nesting seabird. The yellow flowers at the base are wild mustard.
