A tricky shot between lots of branches, I was very surprised to find that I had captured a Black-capped chickadee that was banded! I've seen eagles, geese, even a common merganser banded, but never a tiny bird. Bird banding data is very useful for tracking & info such as behavior, life-span & survival rate, and plenty of other information. Each band is engraved with a unique set of numbers.
