Due to slight hazy conditions, the sun was clearly visible without the usual glare that made it easier to photograph it. The prominent sunspot regions could be clearly seen . During today's sunset the sun direction was 279.96 ° W Altitude at -6.15°. The sun distance from earth was 150.071 million km. Sunspots are dark, planet-size regions of strong magnetic fields on the surface of the sun. They can spawn eruptive disturbances such as solar flares and coronal mass ejections (CMEs). These regions of the sun appear darker because they are cooler than their surroundings.

The next Solstice is on 21 Jun 2023 (June Solst.)
