Lingering plumes of aerosols from Tonga eruption on Jan. 15, 2022 are still frequently producing splendid twilight skies over Rio. Note the rose- and the orange- colored structures on the yellow volcanic twilight arch. The colossal explosion produced a 10% increase in the global content of water vapor in the stratosphere and such unusual hydration may have led to an increase in both frequency and intensity of some atmospheric optics phenomena worldwide, including bright crepuscular rays, air glow, noctilucent clouds etc.
