Our weather has been unusual to say the least these last few months. I think we just tied a 40 year snow record with more to come this week. With the New Moon phase/Milky Way season going on right now, I checked the weather one last time and found a window. It was near the Nevada state line with Utah 100 miles from my home. No problem. Set the alarm at 230AM, jump into the preloaded Chevy and drive. I quickly set up 3 cameras plus my Cell on top of the car and go at it. This is the closest dark sky with a Bortle Class 2 rating. The other close location is 35 miles away is a 3-4 Bortle.

So I had two Sony's and a Canon clicking away ...plus the cell phone. The lenses were 14mm, 24mm and a brand new to me, 85mm Zhongyi Speedmaster. It is a "Light Bucket" for sure. I had to stop it down to f/8 just to keep from blowing out the sky.

This image was captured with the Canon and the 14mm lens. You can see me "ghosting" between cameras and my cell phone on top of the car in this 20 second exposure. After 3 hours and 195 captures, I packed it up and drove to work. Nice thing about being old is I don't need much sleep. lol.
