Mid-summer view of a showpiece deep sky object....
On the evening of July 26/27 a small group from the San Jose Astronomical Association observed from a new location - North Coyote Valley Open Space Preserve. One of my last targets of the evening was the Lagoon Nebula (Messier 8). The field of view in my eQuinox imaging telescope is approximately 30 arc minutes. The angular size of the Lagoon Nebula is 45' x 30'. In order to capture a wider field of view with a bit more nebulosity, I took three overlapping images and stitched them together.
