This Desert Spiny lizard was warming on a colorful lichen covered volcanic basalt boulder during the last rays of the setting sun. I took a chance on shooting the Milky Way since the new moon was cloudy and this was the only clear night sky within 10 days of the New Moon. A two and a half hour drive there, stayed 5 hours, then drove back to arrive home at 3:45 AM. Then off to work at 7:30 ...blehh... Haven't processed any astro pics, yet, but hopefully I got a few dozen keepers. Meteors were popping off the whole time. A Bortle Class 1 dark sky makes for a spectacular show.
