Equipment Details:

Tripod-mounted Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS40 in night scenery and sunset modes.

Post-processing Details:

Selection and size reduction of 12 images taken approximately 5 minutes apart for incorporation into a photo montage.

Image Details:

Waning Crescent Moon close to Venus in twelve shades of brightening volcanic sunrise sky from 5.25 to 6.17 am on 27th May. When viewed in chronological order from top left to bottom right the images show the Moon gradually moving away from Venus (and a neighbouring bright Pisces star) due to its retrograde motion in the sky. Bright Earthshine clearly visible early on in the shaded portion of the Moon gradually disappears as the sky brightens while surface detail, not visible on the illuminated portion while the contrast between the Moon and sky is high, gradually appears as the brightness of the sky approaches that of the Moon.
