Image Details:

How close are they? The Venus-Jupiter conjunction on May 1 is when the two brightest planets in the sky will be at their closest. How close are the two bright stars? We can use the moon as a comparison. The apparent diameter of the moon is about 0.5 degrees, and the distance between Venus and Jupiter this time is about 0.23 degrees, that is, the distance between the two is less than half the size of the moon. Saturn and Jupiter on December 22, 2020, are closer together, about 0.11 degrees apart, about one-tenth the apparent diameter of the moon. Because they happened to be taken with the same focal length, I put these photos together with the full moon for reference.
