Mare Humorum, also known as the "Sea of Moisture", is a lunar mare located in an impact basin that is 425 km across. Gassendi is the large impact crater on the north edge of Mare Humorum. The crater floor contains a system of long, narrow depressions known as rilles. To the south lies the partially flooded crater Doppelmayer. Both Gassendi and Doppelmayer were formed before the impact that created the mare.
