This picture of the waxing crescent moon was taken at 8.05 pm in the south west direction. Though the moonset tonight was at 8.30 pm , due to the thick cloud formation below, the moon had disappeared within 5 mins after I had snap some photos of it. I was fortunate to have spotted the ultra thin crescent moon which is the new moon of February 2022 coinciding with the second day of the lunar new year celebrated by the Chinese. The moon direction was at 253.72° WSW↑ and altitude was 6.67°.

The moon distance from earth was 370,115 km and the next full moon is expected on 17 Feb 2022. The sky on the upper atmosphere was still reddish though the sun(in the same direction) had set some 45 mins ago when this photo was taken. Nevertheless, the moon was clearly visible after the sky had turn dark and was visible for about 20 minutes before it disappeared into the dense clouds below. With the orange red hue, the moon look even more beautiful and it is expected to be aligned to the left of Planet Jupiter in a day or so. The young moon of February 2022 was a beautiful sight to behold.
