Image Details:

Crepuscular rays seen from the back of my flat in the northwest direction where shafts of light were seen just after the sun had set. The sun was blocked by this flat on the right of this picture but nevertheless the beam extending the north western sky radiating from the position of the sun below the horizon was a treat for the eyes. These rays are formed when the are formed when the sun has set behind an irregularly shaped cloud which lets the rays of the sun pass through a cloud in bands. The radiating appearance of the bands is caused by perspective, as demonstrated by the fact that when on rare occasions the rays extend across the entire sky. I just have to imagine that I saw the northern lights but that is not the case here !
