Image Details:

The great conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn in 2020 is their closest approach in nearly 800 years. They are now less than the with of the Moon apart. This HDR composite image captures their appearance in a small telescope December 17th from Austin, Texas. Left to right we have: Saturn (Titan) and Jupiter (Callisto, Phoebe, Ganymede, Europa). They will appear at their closest on the Winter Solstice, a coincidence, at dusk.
