Geminid meteors!! Carolyn and I bushwacked a half mile uphill through the snow after dark up to a small cliff in RMNP that overlooks Moraine Park. We were rewarded by a most spectacular meteor show, mostly originating around or through the constellation Orion in the east. We only spent 2 hours at the site because of the blowing snow and gusty winds.
The camera was pointed in a different direction than we were watching (out into Moraine park to the west) so we had no idea what it captured until we got home. Can you say fireball? and why is the ground lit up underneath? A timelapse video of our short stay can be seen at: https://www.flickr.com/photos/125769551@N04/albums/72157717309262578
