After two hours, a zillion mosquito bites, and intermittent clouds, I got lucky... Just below the Big Dipper in the Constellation Ursa Major (The Big Bear) the Comet Neowise sinks into the hazy, light-polluted horizon over Route 739 in Lords Valley, Pike County, Pennsylvania. At the time of this shot (10:25 pm on July 25, 2020) Neowise was 21 degrees above the horizon, had a magnitude of 4.71 (the brighter the object, the lower the number of magnitude assigned - the dimmest object visible with the naked eye is typically magnitude 6.5), and was approximately .71 Astronomical Units from the earth (an AU is approximately 93 million miles and approximately 8 light-minutes.
