Shooting Star and Neowise Comet

It’s been awhile since I’ve been able to get out and do some adventuring. Last night I decided to change that with a very spontaneous trip to Vasquez Rocks. I had heard about the Neowise comet for a few days now but didn’t know when to see it or even how to find it. I decided to take a chance and grab the wife and doggo and head up out of LA to Vasquez Rocks. We hiked back during sunset to what I thought would be a perfect spot to see the comet. I set up my camera and began searching the skies. I had heard that sunset was when to look for it so when the sun had set and I still couldn’t find it, I started to become a little discouraged. About 30 min later and I was thinking it was time to call it an evening. We started hiking back and I decided to stop and try one more photo. After looking at my photo and zooming around it, I began to see what looked like a small tail off a star. I adjusted the settings and took another photo. I had found it. It was now about 9:20 at night and the comet was finally becoming visible. I convinced my wife to hike back to our original location and set up for my shot. It was exactly what I had been hoping for all along. The alien like landscape of the Vasquez Rocks shooting up from the ground and a bright comet in the distance. This photo was my favorite though because I was lucky enough to capture my first shooting star as well. It can be found in the upper right corner.
