Waxing Moon Rising in Bright Sunlight
A few minutes before 4 pm on Saturday afternoon a crystal clear blue sky provided a spectacular view of the Waxing Gibbous Moon rising above a brightly sunlit hill in Cecil Kop Nature Reserve. It is quite unusual for a waxing moonrise to be so clearly visible in broad daylight. This was due to excellent atmospheric visibility after a spell of cloud and rain the previous day and because the Moon appeared at high elevation.
