Thru cloud cover it was virtually impossible to detect Earth's penumbral shadow line at maximum eclipse. But this image is a good example of the Moon's libration (wobbling) in longitude. Note Grimaldi's distance from the western limb and the Sea of Rains' proximity to the eastern limb. The Moon is near it's maximum negative libration in longitude.
At 0° libration, they are equidistant from their respective limbs. At maximum positive libration, Grimaldi is almost touching the west limb.
Libration is not to be confused with libation, which I enjoy while observing librations. Sometimes I myself experience librations while enjoying libations. ?I'm picking up good librations....... ?
