Image Details:

The crab nebula (M1) in Taurus is a supernova remnant from 1054 AD, when the star erupted into a very bright supernova. The Chinese recorded it and was as bright as the full moon. It was observed in 1840 by William Parsons who sketched it and thought it looked like a crab. I can kind of see it, haha! It is now much less bright but a beautiful target, nonetheless!
