After reading about the giant ice circle slowly spinning in the Presumpscot River in Westbrook, Maine I knew I would have to go see it in person. On Friday, January 18, 2019, I drove to Westbrook and was advised to park in a lot behind Bank of America. There is a walking path along the river there and the fence was lined with excited onlookers. It was thrilling to view the now-famous ice circle up close and personal. Everyone was very friendly and we all took photos of each other with the ice circle. I met a person at the fence who is a "Friend of the Presumpscot River" and he filled me in on the history of river and the formation of the ice circle. It was quite a weekend! Three major events... viewing the ice circle on Friday night, celebrating my birthday on Saturday and viewing the Lunar Eclipse on Sunday night!
