Dan Gaussen is originally England. But he has lived in New Zealand for over a decade, where he now serves as a night sky tour guide. He helps provide EarthSky's Southern Hemisphere sky perspective. Dan studied astronomy and now runs a stargazing business - called Mackenzie Stargazing - in New Zealand's South Island dark sky reserve. He loves astrophotography! And he has recently been getting involved in citizen science, joining the legions of amateur astronomers who take measurements of variable stars.
