Dan Gaussen is originally from England. But he has lived in New Zealand for over a decade, where he now serves as a night sky tour guide. He helps provide EarthSky's Southern Hemisphere sky perspective. Dan studied astronomy and now runs a stargazing business - called Stargaze Mackenzie - in New Zealand's South Island dark sky reserve. He loves astrophotography! And he is involved in citizen science. He has joined the legions of amateur astronomers who take measurements of variable stars. And he helps measure asteroids for NASA and the Minor Planet Center.
