Sugarloaf Mountain, Arkansas
August 30, 2020
Sugarloaf Mountain rises 690 feet (210 m) above the valley just east of the city of Heber Springs, northeast of Little Rock, Arkansas. It is an erosional remnant near the Little Red River and is a popular spot in Heber Springs. The name given by settlers is because it looked like the shape of the loaves of unrefined sugar in use at that time. The view from the mountain extends for miles in every direction and a friend of the EarthSky community wrote: “It’s all around optimal for any and all universe lovers!”
