Medawisla Lodge and Cabins
Medawisla (the Abenaki word for loon) is located in the famed 100-Mile Wilderness in central Maine. Built on conservation land and located at the confluence of Second Roach Pond and the Roach River, Medawisla provides accommodations underneath inky-black skies and daytime activities of hiking, paddling, fly fishing, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing. Visitors can rent a private cabin or bunkhouse spot. Fresh-cooked breakfast and dinner included, as well as a trail lunch provided. An EarthSky visitor describes this quiet patch of Maine: “The only dark-sky region left in the eastern 2/3 of the US. A beautiful lodge, great food, year-round access. Hiking, paddling, biking, skiing….and telescopes! A partner in the Mountains of Stars outreach program.”
