Dutchman Peak, Rogue River–Siskiyou National Forest
The Rogue River–Siskiyou National Forest is a United States National Forest in the U.S. states of Oregon and California. The formerly separate Rogue River and Siskiyou National Forests were administratively combined in 2004. Now, the Rogue River–Siskiyou National Forest ranges from the crest of the Cascade Range west into the Siskiyou Mountains, covering almost 1.8 million acres. Forest headquarters are located in Medford, Oregon.
Dutchman Peak is the last of the original cupola lookouts still in use. Located near the California—Oregon state line, on the Rogue River National Forest, the structure was built in 1927 and is one of the oldest lookouts remaining in service in the United States. It is a favorite stop on the Mt. Ashland Loop Road and for hikers on the nearby Pacific Crest National Scenic Trail.
