Burying Hill Beach
Burying Hill Beach is a small beach characterized by its small rocks and pebbles that become denser near the water’s edge, just 54 miles (83 km) northeast of the famed New York, New York. Unaffected by artificial illumination, the beach provides a dark and open sky for reasonable stargazing, as well as ample opportunity for picnics, barbecues, and swimming. Camping is not permitted here, although the park is open May through September from 5:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m., providing a decent window for sky viewing after sunset. One EarthSky friend calls it “a small, quiet, and rocky beach.” For more information, please visit online or call the Town of Westport at 203-226-6983.
