June 7, 2018
Conchas Lake State Park is a grand freshwater lake connecting to the South Canadian River, about 165 miles (266 km) northeast of Albuquerque, New Mexico. While there are no designated stargazing areas, the lake is accessible by the public year-round and offers secluded coves, canyons, and sandy beaches, excellent for boating and fishing, with wide open night skies suited for gazing. One of New Mexico’s largest lakes, with miles of shoreline, there is ample opportunity for hiking and birding as well. Camping is also available from a selection of campgrounds, both primitive and developed. For more information, please visit online or call 575-868-2270.
