View larger. | Look up! You might see something cool. EarthSky Facebook friend Jv Noriega in the Philippines captured this lunar halo on January 13, 2014. Look closely. An airliner streaks across the halo. At the bottom of the ring is Jupiter. 011314 9pm Manila. Thank you, Jv! See more photos by Jv Noriega and friends at Night Skies on Earth on Facebook.
We heard from many friends in the Philippines that a beautiful lunar halo was shining in yesterday evening’s sky (January 13, 2014). Our friend Jv Noriega in Manila, who has contributed many wonderful photos to EarthSky, posted this shot of last night’s lunar halo enclosing both an airplane in flight and the planet Jupiter.
We’ve seen many lunar halo photos, but none more beautiful than this one! Thank you, Jv!
